NOVELTY

COMMUNICATING

HOW CAN WE COMMUNICATE novelty?

This is one of the most challenging questions in a time where dealing with change has become an inherent part of our lives and where innovation and transformation are the driving forces of business success.

Novelty. The word is on everyone’s lips. But quite often, it’s hard to grasp what kind of novelty you are actually dealing with. Novelty often comes naked, and it is on you to cloth it with words. If you are faced with novelty, you might have pondered upon one of the following questions…

  • Whether you are innovating a product, preparing a new business strategy or dealing with organizational transformation - finding your own words for what's going on is the key success factor in making change happen.

I will help you get clear about what is going on and put it into words and pictures so that you can invite others into the conversation.

  • A key turning point in bringing novelty to life is when you get your most stakeholders to own and drive change.

I will support you in creating novelty-driven communication strategies and tools that arouse curiosity, invite for playfulness and build up future-oriented communication skills.

  • Inviting a wider audience to get interested in and support your cause is a tricky task. When is the right time? What's the right setting? How to involve them so that they can be supportive?

My specialty lies in shaping a tailor-made communication plan to communicate to the right people at the right time in the right way. And you will see: very often, this dreaded job will turn into a surprisingly fulfilling experience.

i am working with leaders who want to transform organizations and create inspiring places to work.

selection of projects

For over 15 years, I have been working Europe-wide, across various industries and in projects of different scale. With a wide array of tools and methods at hand, I view every client and challenge as if it were my first - humble, curious and ready to create just the right approach for those involved.

culture transformation

culture transformation

LKH Baden-Mödling, Lower Austria

  • The head of the surgical department of an Austrian state hospital was looking for a sparring partner to shape a new identity for his department, translate it into a future-proof strategy and a flexible organizational design.

  • The process should be truly co-creative, spark curiosity and invite people to assume responsibility, aiming at building up a culture of cooperation and innovation that would spread across the entire hospital eventually.

  • Methods, i.a. 20 generative Interviews, ethnographic observations, sparring sessions, co-creation workshops, townhall events

  • Ongoing project, start April 2024

team development

team development

CPD L’Oréal Österreich

  • The market director of the Austrian consumer products division of an international beauty and consumer goods company asked me to help him and his team in building up an honest feedback culture. The goal was to overcome organizational hurdles such as hierarchy, seniority; but much more, leverage the power of the extremely good team spirit (“we are all friends, here”), which at the same time posed a threat to telling each other the truth (“fear of losing friends”).

  • I wanted to first understand the cultural “fabric” and organizational inner workings. So I did ethnographic observations in the client’s office and conducted in-depth interviews with > 10 stakeholders. I then feedbacked my findings to the leadership team and co-created together with them a 1-day workshop for the whole team (35 people).

  • The goal of the workshop was to create a shared understanding of feedback within the team, bring to surface mental models and unconscious beliefs about feedback and work out a future-oriented feedback philosophy that would serve as a guidepost for prototyping a new way of communicating and working together.

  • The workshop yielded super-diverse prototyping initiatives, all based on a novel understanding of feedback culture: 1) idea and innovation workshop, 2) feedforward as a tool to involve B2B clients in developing innovations, 3) the “inner child” as a guide in feedback conversations, 4) safe spaces for giving feedback to leaders

  • Finished project: March - July 2024

Event moderation

Event moderation

Automobilcluster Oberösterreich

  • A part of my work that I like very much is to be on stage and host events. Many of my client involve me in creating the program and “setting the tone” in the months prior to the event.

  • As PCM® communications trainer and professionally trained interpreter and speaker, I enjoy shaping intercultural conversations that make the audience change perspective and create a shared understanding.

  • Industries I work in include automotive, health care, publishing, beauty, and innovation.

  • The Automotive Cluster Upper Austria is one of my “oldest” clients and I am happy to say that over the last 10 years, we have been pushing the level of innovativeness of the event to whole new level.

what people say

  • Edzard Meenen, Market Director consumer products, L'Oréal Österreich

We wanted to strengthen an open feedback culture within our team in an innovative way. We have fully achieved this objective. The team had great fun, while working effectively. Preparation, coordination and execution of the workshop was highly creative and professional. We would like to thank Carina for the great work and can highly recommend her.

  • Martin Bodingbauer, head of surgical department at lkh baden / Mödling

Based on my own long-standing experience in medical staff development (also with external support), it was surprising to me that Carina was able to elevate the collaboration to a new level. What is particularly convincing is the high level of intensity and passion with which she approaches her work. I appreciate her attentive listening and the iterative work in regular cycles to reflect reality as accurately as possible. On this basis, we have now initiated a process that gives us the opportunity to achieve a sustainable cultural change.

  • Barbara Haberl, HR BUSINESS PARTNER, Fonds Soziales Wien

From 2018 to 2022, Carina has designed and implemented our executive leadership program. She is incredibly creative, brings in new perspectives, and always takes cultural considerations into account. She doesn't just accept (cultural) boundaries but shifts them to enable unprecedented approaches. We have greatly appreciated working with her and can recommend Carina at any time, especially for innovative projects.

  • René Popik, ceo hb reavis Slovakia

I worked with Carina on our office relocation in Bratislava and a Europe-wide restructuring of our development teams. I valued her openness and enthusiasm, while being fully professional. She was driven by team spirit and had a strong sense of belonging to the project.

  • Florian danmayer, cluster-manager automobilcluster Oberösterreich

You never know what you get, but it is always much more than expected. When Carina moderates, she easily entertains guys from the old economy, challenges them with new perspectives and opens their minds - while being professional at the same time. She is incredibly good at that.

  • Silvia Deutsch, superb holistic branding

Carina brings in diverse perspectives and a lot of experience from a wide variety of areas. Her professionalism and spontaneity inspires me. In addition, she brings a great deal of flexibility and understanding for all participants in the project. She has an eye for the big picture, so that new, innovative approaches are constantly emerging.

about me

  • Co-creating knowledge

Creating new knowledge together with my clients is most often at the start of any project. For this work, I am leveraging a variety of thinking tools that I've learned and co-developed over the last 10 years. I am extremely grateful to my study program director at www.meicogsci.eu, Markus Peschl, and my former boss Thomas Fundneider and the whole team at www.thelivingcore.com. They have supported me unconditionally in developing my own style and they continue to be very close work partners. I've made a huge qualitative leap in my work when I discovered systemic constellations. I owe a lot to Rainer von Leoprechting, my trainer, mentor and host at www.obenauscommunity.org. Our collaboration and 15 year long friendship is very dear to me.

  • Enabling Conversations

A whole new world opened up to me when I started my studies in interpreting and translation. I got the chance to work with Alice Rabl at www.all-languages.at, and she threw me in at the deep end - although she was always at my side when I needed her. During my studies, I wanted to work on my oratory skills and found a brutally honest and highly ambitious trainer in Tatiana Lackner at www.sprechen.com. It was just exactly what I needed at that time! Meeting Regina, Roman and Uwe from www.kcg-pcm.de/en got me interested in the psychological background of the way we speak. Being a Process Communication Model (PCM) trainer has brought depth into my work with intercultural groups. Sometimes, though, a picture tells more than a thousand words. Immersing myself into the art of visual facilitation helped me being able to communicate when there was a lack of words. And for my clients, it is great fun to experience thoughts and ideas come to life as a piece of art. I continue to learn from Sebastian www.sebastian-loerscher.de and I absolutely love hosting workshops together with him.

  • Shaping Spaces

Social interactions are not happening in the void, but are driven by the sorrounding environment. We have a lot of power in designing these environments - and this work has become the core of my work. It brings me back on the one hand to thanking www.thelivingcore.com, a bunch of people that have done the scientific and hands-on groundwork for creating meaningful spaces. And it ends with Martin, my husband and partner at www.roomandspoon.com. Together, we've developed a variety of spaces, the latter being our very own café and deli, www.habsgut.at.
